Quotable: Apparently Hermès actually does burn Birkins?
A flaming Birkin bag was recently the topic of much heated discussion after Francesca Eastwood and her photographer boyfriend Tyler Shields torched one of the most coveted bags in the world. With a price tag of more than $100,000, it was easy to understand the outrage that ensued over the ostentatious act… but it seems that lighting Birkin bags on fire isn’t out of the norm at Hermès, at least according to Mulberry’s Emma Hill who shared this tidbit in her interview with the Telegraph:
“No one can touch them in terms of quality. A friend who was working at Hermès said that if there was even the most minor imperfection on a bag they would take it out the back and burn it — no compromise.”
