Rachel Lindsay Could Be the First Bachelorette of Colour
It’s no secret that The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are not models for diversity. Over 15 years and 33 seasons, very few contestants of colour have made it far in the competition, and only white Bachelors and Bachelorettes have been casted as series leads.
But this might soon change. Nick Viall’s season (finally!) features a more diverse group of frontrunners than normal—and it looks like fan-favourite Rachel Lindsay is going to be in it till the end.
Rachel is a charming, beautiful and accomplished lawyer from Texas. She made history when she became the first African American to receive the coveted first-impression rose. The only problem? Rachel might be too good for Nick. (And for the franchise in general).
Rachel is too good for this show. #TheBachelor

Right before handing her a rose, Bachelor Nick told Rachel, “I might be breaking rules here, but I’m super into you.”
And Nick isn’t the only one.
Former bachelor, Ben Higgins, tweeted exactly what everyone else was already thinking.
Rachel will either be with @viallnicholas28 in the end or she will be the next #bachelorette #TheBachelor

Viewers are torn: Do we want Rachel to win Nick’s heart, or do we want her to be the next Bachelorette? Either way, we can all agree the world needs more Rachel.
