Rachel Zoe’s new shopping and styling app is like having the Clueless closet right in your pocket
Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe is going digital for her latest fashion-infused project. The star of The Rachel Zoe Project has partnered up with social gaming giant Crowdstar to create a new mobile fashion game: Covet Fashion. The exciting Apple iOS app allows users to style digital avatars in current season, shoppable trends. As Zoe commented to WWD, “everyone can and should have style, and what better way than to experiment and play with it online?”
For those of us who are constantly on the go, there’s nothing like a great app to add a little efficiency to our daily routines—because let’s face it, we could all use an extra 10 minutes of sleep in the morning. And in the true spirit of social networking, this fresh new fashion experience allows users to share their styled looks with the whole Covet Fashion community.
WWD reports that Crowdstar has already signed on 60 or so brands for the app, including It girl favourites Rebecca Minkoff, Dannijo and, of course, Rachel Zoe’s own collection. If you happen to fancy an item on the app, each piece of virtual clothing features a shopping link to the brand’s online store. Crowdstar’s CEO Jeffrey Tsing shared his excitement over the new venture with WSJ saying: “We take it one step further, so rather than just deciding what individual pieces they like, users can discover how those pieces can be styled together and incorporated into their real life wardrobe.” The app also promises styling contests, some of which will be judged by Zoe herself. As style ambassador to the app, Zoe’s other duties include writing style tips and sharing trend content from her own site, thezoereport.com.
The free app will be available for downloading on Apple iPads, iPods and iPhones in early July.
