Rihanna is Dropping a “Visual Autobiography” This Month
We may not have had a new Rihanna album since 2016’s Anti but we are getting a “stunning visual autobiography” from the singer this fall. The Grammy winner just announced that she will be releasing a 504-page coffee-table book with 1,050 pictures, 11 inserts, seven gatefolds and a poster. Much of the material has never been published before, and will offer an “intimate” look at the superstar’s life.
“From her Barbados childhood to her worldwide tours, from iconic fashion moments to private time with friends and family, the book showcases intimate photographs of her life as an artist, performer, designer, and entrepreneur,” reads the official statement.
In addition to the main Rihanna book, Phaidon and RiRi have collaborated with The Haas Brothers on three limited editions with custom bookstands, including the Ultra Luxury Supreme edition, which comes with a custom-sculpted marble pedestal to showcase the book. Only 10 of these editions exist, and are already sold out. (Cardi B is one of the lucky owners.) There are also 990 Luxury Supreme editions that’ll set you back USD 5,500 but hey, they’re signed by Rihanna and come with a gold-plated tabletop stand. For those who don’t have thousands of disposable dollars to drop on a book, there’s the Fenty x Phaidon edition with a custom “This Shit Is Heavy” bookstand that retails for USD 175, and the book itself—sans fancy stands—for USD 150.
“I am so excited to share this collection of incredible images,” Rihanna said in a statement. “I’m very grateful to the talented photographers and artists who contributed. We’ve been working on the book for over five years and I’m really happy to be able to finally share it with everybody.”
The Fenty x Phaidon edition starts shipping October 10, and the Rihanna book from October 24. All the books can be pre-ordered here.
