Rooting for the home team: Jeremy Laing nominated as finalist for 2011 ANDAM Prize
Congratulations are in order. Our own Jeremy Laing, who has been announced as one of six finalists for the 2011 ANDAM Prize. The organization (the National Association for the Development of the Fashion Arts) is focused on assisting young designers internationally, the winner receiving €200,000 (about $280,000) as well as year long mentorship with Ralph Toledano, a former managing director at Chloé and Karl Lagerfeld.
Competing alongside Laing’s signature streamlined, urban looks are Adam Kimmel, Commuun, Yiqing Yin, Matthew Harding and Anthony Vaccarello, the group to be judged by the likes of Pierre Bergé, Emmanulle Alt and Hilary Alexander. The stakes are high, considering that the winning designer must relocate business to Paris. Past recipients of the prize include top industry names including Giles Deacon, Gareth Pugh and Martin Margiela. While we really don’t like the thought of losing one of our brightest stars to Paris, we’ll be crossing our fingers for Laing for the win. He’ll always be ours after all, right?
