Fresh off the Australian premiere of I Don’t Know How She Does It, Sarah Jessica Parker continued touring Down Under last week. Her antipode appearances were of the usual press-junket variety—except for the inclusion of bold headwear at two events for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

The first: a magnificent Philip Treacy creation that Parker wore at the Oaks Club Ladies Luncheon. Some compared it to a satellite dish—it actually reminds us of the Spiral Jetty. (And we’ll let you debate whether Parker’s air kisses were done out of courtesy or hat-bending necessity!) She was also wearing a Chanel Haute Couture dress.

Then, on Crown Oaks Day, SJP opted against a fascinator and instead styled her intricate updo with an elaborate beaded headpiece (also by Treacy). We might just be showing our nostalgia for the days when Carrie Bradshaw wore out a trend when we admit to being a little disappointed. Compared to past red carpet looks, the oversized barrette seems almost demure! Perhaps there just wasn’t enough room in her luggage for a second show-stopping topper?
