The Princess Shop is having their second annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses dinner on Friday, March 13 (from $60, TCU Place, 35 22nd St. E., theprincessshop.ca).

Founded in 2007 by Chantal Moloney and Ainsley Robertson, the organization is aimed at boosting confidence and improving graduation day for young women in need by providing graduation wear—gown and accessories, as well as makeup, hair and photography.  The pair  have been taken with the success of the initiative and have been expanding by opening up other chapters in The Battlefords, Humboldt and Lloydminster to keep up with the demand.

Moloney was inspired to start the project after watching an episode of Oprah in which a similar group provided prom dresses to girls who could not afford one.  “I started thinking about all the dresses I had in my closet…this was my calling! I figured that if I could help just one girl I had done my job,” she says.

The gala event will include a fashion show featuring some of this year’s princesses in their gorgeous dresses, live entertainment and a live and silent auction. To reserve your tickets go to picatic.com or to find out more information on this amazing organization you can check them out at theprincesshop.ca or on their Facebook group. In the short time it has been running, this group has already made a difference in the lives of many young girls. You can also contribute by donating dresses, purses, shoes or jewellery and help make many more dreams come true.
