Spring 2017 Beauty Trend Report: How to Pull Off Glossy Skin
Shiny skin has made quite the comeback, hasn’t it? While it took a backseat for a while as matte everything took over (thanks, Instagram), these days dewy complexions and healthy skin have reclaimed their rightful throne. On the spring runways, makeup artists took that to extremes, creating skin that looked soaked in moisturizer.
At Thakoon and Thierry Mugler, skin was so dewy that models appeared post-workout. At Prada and Maison Margiela, healthy, glowing skin was the main message of the makeup look. At Mansur Gavriel, James Boehmer of Nars created skin that was “wet, almost. They’re really, really flushed. You know how your skin is at the end of the summer?”
While highlighter is oft used to achieve the illusion of shiny skin IRL (as in, off the runways), we recommend skipping the powders and liquid drops and opted to create glossy skin using, well, skincare products. Who would have thought? The use of creams and oils and serums provides a realistic shine that’s just as mesmerizing.
From striking shine to full-on wetness, these were our favourite glossy skin appearances on the spring 2017 runways.
