Step Aside Left-Shark, Selfie Kid is the Best Super Bowl Meme of All Time
So you don’t like sports? That’s fine. We feel you. Most of us show up to Super Bowl parties with the intention of eating nachos, watching ads and waiting for Beyonce to make a surprise appearance during the halftime show. But in the year 2018, there’s one other thing we non-sport fans have to look forward to on game day: memes.
Anytime 100 million people tune into a television event, you can bet there will be laughable, relatable, caption-able moments. These moments–like Super Bowl XLIX’s Left-Shark–remain in our collective cultural memory forever and ever. (Or, at least, for as long as we still share memes on Twitter.)
From the mystery selfie kid–now identified as 13-year-old Ryan McKenna–who eclipsed Justin Timberlake at his own halftime show, to Gisele Bündchen chugging a glass of red wine, here are the most meme-able moments from Super Bowl LII.
