Stylish Canadian Weddings: A chic summer bash at The Toronto Hunt Club
by FASHION StaffYou don’t need Facebook to tell you that wedding season is in full swing. There’s something about “how we met” stories that tug at our heartstrings, especially when the happy endings involve gorgeous weddings. To celebrate the season, we’ll be featuring real Canadian weddings all summer long.
Leave it to Rachael Fisher, co-owner and stylist at Hangar9 Studio, to pull off one of the chicest weddings of the summer. She and hubby Alexander Doak, met through a mutual friend back in 2011 and got married at the Toronto Hunt Club five years later.
Flip through the gallery to get a glimpse of their romantic and oh-so stylish celebration.

The proposal
“He proposed at the top of Elfin Lake in Garibaldi National Park, British Columbia last June while away celebrating the opening of my new boutique Hangar9 in First Canadian Place.”

The dress
“The dress is by Isabelle Armstrong from NYC and I found it at Kleinfeld. It was a last minute appointment, after 5 previous failed appointments and about 25 dresses later. When I walked into Kleinfeld, the gentleman standing in the foyer of the salon instantly locked eyes with me and said “You! I have your dress.”I instantly felt a flutter in my chest, but what sealed the deal was when I stepped out of my change room in this dress, my stylist mother, sister and best friend all went silent with tears streaming down their faces. My maid of honour then bursts out, “Oh my God, Alex will love it,” and that was all that needed to be said.”

The flowers
“My vision for florals (which were arranged by Dayna Armstrong of Patchouli) was reminiscent of growing up in the country with wild flowers growing all around.”

The food
“There wasn’t a specific concept that I was trying to encapsulate for the wedding. I wanted the entire day to reflect Alex and I as a couple and all the things that we love; great company dressed to the nines, beautiful flowers, good food (see: oyster boat), fine wine and a fantastic party. We avoided all the wedding fluff which I think made the day a true representation of us.”

The first dance
“Fancy footwork for our first dance.”

The cake
“Something old – my eldest sister’s cake decoration adorned our wedding cake.”
