Suki Waterhouse cements her It girl status as the face of Burberry’s new Brit Rhythm fragrance
There’s no denying Suki Waterhouse’s growing It girl status. The British actress and model (who also happens to be dating Bradley Cooper) has been tapped by Burberry as the face of the brand’s newest fragrance, Brit Rhythm. And based on the just-released campaign images, it’s clear that she was an excellent choice: Waterhouse’s bombshell domineer and edgy gaze complements the fragrance’s characteristics, described as “a blend of contradictions.”
The black and white digital campaign is set in a dark concert-hall venue and stars Waterhouse alongside British musician George Barnett of These New Puritans. The pair is caught in a sultry embrace right before walking off into a swarm of screaming fans and flashbulbs. (Because what’s more rock and roll than a steamy love fest before the show?)
The campaign images show Waterhouse with tousled hair and smoked-out eyes, dressed in the label’s signature leather biker jacket—one of the many pieces in an special edition capsule collection that will coincide with the launch of Brit Rhythm. The “powdery floral fragrance” has a “rush” of British lavender, orange blossom at the heart and a baseline of deep vetiver, resulting in an “unexpected combination” that channels both a feminine and rock and roll aesthetic.
Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey’s affinity for indie rock and roll and up-and-coming It girls has been evident in the past. With an impressive roster of British starlets like Cara Delevingne and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley fronting previous Burberry fragrance campaigns, Waterhouse’s fame is sure to skyrocket. Expect the Brit Rhythm and the digitally-driven global campaign to launch in February 2014.
