Katy Perry‘s never been one for subtlety, so when we heard that she would be the halftime show performer at Super Bowl 2015, we were sure that she’d go all out in the firework-blasting, cupcake bra-wearing way that only she can pull off. Well, we were not wrong or disappointed. With special appearances by Lenny Kravitz (he joined Perry for “I Kissed A Girl”) and Missy Elliot (who performed “Get Ur Freak On,” “Work It” and “Lose Control”), the almost-13-minute-long show was definitely memorable. Leave it to Katy Perry to make singing about a plastic bag floating through the wind at the Super Bowl cool.
The singer wore three custom-made Jeremy Scott looks as well as a Moschino gown for the finale. Her first, a fiery (literally, covered in flames) patent leather mini dress with cut outs and glitter gold leather appliqué detailing launched comparison memes immediately. The next, a bustier and skirt set inspired by her hit “California Gurls” was essentially a deflated beach ball-turned-top and skirt, and her third Jeremy Scott outfit was an oversized hooded jersey covered in crystals that almost makes us want to hunt down our own custom bedazzling gun. For the finale (“Firework,” obviously) she wore a one shoulder silver lamé gown with cut-outs and silver holographic star detailing, because she is Katy Perry and she does what she wants.
As if that wasn’t enough, the star ended her night by getting a Super Bowl tattoo on her finger, and hanging out with (ex?) boyfriend John Mayer. Other stars who made it out to the game included Rihanna, Britney Spears (who posted a shot with Steven Tyler, throwing back to our personal favourite halftime show ever), Gisele Bündchen, Lea Michele and Chrissy Teigen.
