Street style: Hot chic
Sent scouting in the scorching Toronto heat this week (sorry girls!), our intrepid interns were on a mission to find chic city dwellers who braved the temperature in style. I was afraid that we would only find mad dogs and Englishmen, but as it turns out, Toronto is fashion-focused, despite the weather. The winner? A cute, cool-as-a-cucumber hipster. The baby pink oxfords are a great feminine foil to an otherwise boyish outfit.

Street style: Paparazzi perfect
Hot and sticky summer weather calls for lots of skin, and there was no better place to bare it than the annual S.M.U.T Soiree, a night of girly, gossip-filled festivities. (Check back next week for the video.) To beat the heat (and catch up on all the best scandalous scoop), our lovely donned leg-lengthening nude sandals, an icy-clear necklace and a silky watercolour jacket.

Street style: Bowled over
It’s safe to say that the ’90s are back with a vengeance. While the fall runways were full of the decade’s minimalist looks, this week’s streeter steps out in era’s other big style: grunge. Distressed jeans? Check. Chunky shoes? Check? Slouchy plaid shirt? Check. Not that we’re complaining–her statement necklace and chic fringe make this look a winner.

Toronto street style: FAT fashion
Last week, Toronto’s Liberty Village played host to the fifth annual Toronto Alternative Arts & Fashion Week (a.k.a. FAT). The five-day event showcased definitely-not-average fashion lines, including Cristina Sabaiduc’s Romandin with a fall collection crafted from plastic mesh, fabrics strips, hand-dyed fabrics and silicone caulking, Heidi Ackerman‘s avant-garde Russian constructivist-inspired pieces, and London-based Canadian Jasper […]

Street style: Sophistcated slouch
Perusing the photos from Toronto Fashion Week, I couldn’t help but notice the legion of leg-baring minis packing the venue. This Lovely is bucking the trend with slouchy, menswear-inspired attitude. A banker-stripe button-down, an easy pant and an oversized watch = sartorial sophistication.

Wrapping up LG Fashion Week
Another Toronto Fashion Week is in the can and we took in tons of shows, went backstage, and tracked down the best street style. Here’s what we saw: We headed to Greta Constantine in the cavernous basement of a car dealership and scoped out menswear at Philip Sparks and Greta’s little brother, Ezra. We travelled […]
