Tee is for Tonic
By Natalia Ksiazek
It-Brit Luella Bartley is the latest designer to team up with Tonic (tonicgen.com), a for-profit business that sells stylish stuff while supporting meaningful causes.
For the second year running, Tonic’s ‘Every T Counts’ initiative will help raise funds for organizations worldwide and this year Aritzia (aritizia.com) is getting in on the giving, making the chic shirts available in their Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver stores.
As with last year’s guest designer, Tara Subkoff, Bartley’s collection benefits charities in Tonic’s four key areas: the environment, education, poverty and social welfare. Each shirt is paired with a different cause: The Scary Douglas helps fund mobile dental clinics and the Robin puts shoes on the feet of kids in Abrigots, Haiti. Hollywood celebs like Rachel Bilson and Petra Nemcova have already been spotted sporting the fashion forward tees, which retail for $52, with 30 per cent of every sale donated to the designated program.
