Tess Holliday Goes Shirtless at Union Station to Promote Body Positivity
Let the protests continue.
In a week that saw Internet trolls dare to body shame Lady Gaga after her aerobic overdrive of a Superbowl Halftime appearance, we’re sending mad love to Tess Holliday and all the curvy woman who went topless, in just their bras and jeans, at Toronto’s Union Station to protest and promote the body diversity movement.
The size 22 model and other ‘protesters’ walked through the station carrying placards that bore the hashtag #iwontcompromise as people streamed through the bustling station which sees more than 200,000 passengers on a daily basis.
The protest was organized by Pennington’s (which carries Holliday’s clothing line) and live-streamed on their official Facebook page. And while the 31-year-old #effyourbeautystandards activist is no stranger to talking body and shame, even she was moved by the day’s events.
“Something amazing happened & I got to share it with these amazing women,” she wrote on her Instagram. “Yes for body diversity. Yes to walking through Union Station in just your bra & jeans. Yes to us embracing our bodies at all stages.”
And she wasn’t alone as one of her 1.4 million Instagram followers wrote on her feed, “love what all you ladies are doing so so so inspiring.”
Nice work, ladies.
