Test driving the Anna Sui FitFlop collab
When Anna Sui’s Shakoha Boot for FitFlop ($205, net-a-porter.com) first landed on my desk, I’ll admit I was skeptical. Boots that promise to tone your muscles are what every lazy Canadian is pining for in the winter, particularly office workers. While I don’t suffer from issues like plantar fascilitis, osteoarthritis and restless leg syndrome—which the FitFlop is reported to relieve–I do work in an office, so I gave them a try. The aesthetics of the boot are pure Sui: studded suede lined with faux fur and adorned with a pair of tassels. The sole has an orthopedic quality that we don’t really love, though admittedly, the function probably necessitates this–the boots come outfitted with a Microwobbleboard, which promises to give you a workout with every step you take. While clunking around in these moon boots, my muscles felt slightly more engaged than usual (think walking on an incline), though this could be thanks to the added support FitFlop lent to my posture. They won’t leave you working up a sweat, but Anna Sui’s FitFlop may add some extra muscle while you move through the slush and snow.
