That’s a Wrap! The Top 8 Trends from Paris Fashion Week Fall 2017
by Caitlan MonetaThere’s a reason why the French are often described as having a certain je ne sais quoi. There’s a magic in Paris that doesn’t exist in the other fashion capitals. It’s not just the twinkling of the Eiffel Tower or the perfect flakiness of their croissants. They have mastered effortless elegance and refined style and it comes naturally. You can see it in the way older men style their scarves, the transformative quality of a well-chosen hat (make sure to pick one up for fall) and how a simple stripe can be worked into the chicest of looks.
Fitting then to cap off a spectacular four weeks of fashion at the epicenter of French culture – the Musee du Louvre. Louis Vuitton’s epic takeover was as lust-worthy for the clothes and accessories as it was for the art. Other high moments of the week included Chanel’s rocket ship blast off, The Weeknd’s surprise performance at H&M, Balmain’s buzzy after party and the many, many celebrity sightings (Rihanna, Michelle Williams, Alicia Keys, Kate Moss, Solange and Zoe Kravitz were just a few).
Here’s a look back at the top trends from the Paris fashion week shows for Fall 2017.

Look to classic menswear patterns for inspo. Wide windowpanes, bold houndstooths and overblown plaids are all fair game.

While I’m not sure that Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in “The Revenant” was actually the inspiration behind these coats, they’re eerily similar to his wild topper.
