It’s taken 20 years, but the great American pastime has finally made its way north once more. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ll know that the Toronto Blue Jays are back in business, with their efforts (so far) culminating in the final game of their American League Division Series tonight. If they win, they’ll advance to the semifinals, with a one in four shot at winning the World Series.
If you grew up in the nineties, this occasion will be particularly sentimental for you. The last time the Blue Jays were in contention for this kind of prize Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey were dominating the airwaves, movies like Jurassic Park and Mrs. Doubtfire were blowing up the box office, and people were investing their college tuition in Beanie Babies.
A lot has changed since then, not least of all fashion. But some things, like our country’s ability to rally around our sole MLB team, have managed to stay the same. Sure, the names on the backs of the jerseys are different, but part of what’s always made this team great is its unique ability to attract colourful personalities. This season has certainly been no exception, with some of the most stylish players in the game occupying our roster (baes-ball, anyone?). Here, a look at a few of the freshest fashion highlights brought to you by your 2015 Toronto Blue Jays.

David Price, Pitcher
The old adage of matching your shoes to your bag seems to ring true even in the world of baseball. For David Price, this means opting for a monochrome palette in the Jays signature cobalt blue when it comes to selecting his glove and custom Air Jordan cleats.

Josh Donaldson, Infielder
A hybrid between a mohawk and a manbun, Josh Donaldson’s hair has elicited so much attention, it even inspired its own meme of the Blue Jays logo this summer. Most Valuable Player or Most Valuable Ponytail?

Kevin Pillar, Outfielder
Stirrup socks were originally worn in the late 19th century when baseball players were also required to wear knickerbockers (“knickers”). They also displayed team colours, with some clubs even deriving their names from them (the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox). These days, Pillar is bringing the throwback look back—and with catches like these, we are 100% on board.

Marcus Stroman, Pitcher
You’d never know it while he’s on the mound, but underneath that ball cap Marcus Stroman sports a curly blonde coif good enough to make us think that “hat hair” could actually be a sleeper hit for fall.

Jose Bautista, Outfielder
Joey Bats is a man with a penchant for sleek shades, which, in addition to earning him sartorial points, also enhance his performance. Amber-tinted lenses are known to reduce glare and filter out blue light, making a baseball stand out more against a clear sky.
