The Beauty Products We’re Loving This Month

FASHION‘s beauty team is made up of Beauty Director Lesa Hannah, Associate Beauty Editor Suzie Michael, and Beauty Writer Madelyn Chung. Each month, they’ll be discussing their favourite new products (whether they’re new-new or just new to them).

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Blackout Parfum Stick

LH: I‘m not one of those people who includes a spray of fragrance as part of my morning routine. In fact, I tend to not wear it all except for an event where I’m expected to dress up fancy. That said, I’m intrigued by all the new forms of scent that have been launching lately, like Derek Lam’s chunky perfume sticks. You don’t have to wait for a drydown and they’re easily transportable due to their size and format. Blackout ($49) is my fave of course, because it’s spicy and warm.

Boscia Charcoal Deep-Pore Cleansing Stick Treatment

SM: The Boscia Deep-Pore Cleansing Stick Treatment ($37) has legit changed my life. My skin is pretty oily and my pores are super congested and huge (I know everyone thinks their pores are big, but mine really are, trust me) and after using this stick cleanser for a couple of months, I really do see a difference in the amount of gunk in them. The charcoal basically acts as a magnet and pulls out impurities and what you’re left with is just overall smoother and cleaner-looking skin. For real. It’s also very easy to use — you just rub the stick onto your skin in a circular motion until it starts to lather up, at which point you use your fingers to massage it in a bit more, and then wash it off. It also has some glycolic acid in it, which is a chemical exfoliator that works on the outer layer of the epidermis to slough away dead skin. Oh, and it’s amazing for travel. I took it on vacation with me earlier this summer and because it’s in stick form, I never had to worry about it leaking. Genius.

Fresh Sugar Lip Caramel Hydrating Balm

MC: Since I’m allergic to dairy, I can’t eat most desserts (tragic because I love dessert), but this delectable Sugar Lip Caramel balm from Fresh ($22) is the next best thing — without the calories (or the reaction). Not only does it taste and smell delicious, but unlike the brand’s Sugar Nourishing Lip Balm Advanced Therapy, this version is silky and goes on like butter, and doesn’t feel at all sticky. Plus, it’s ultra hydrating and is great for adding a little bit of moisture and sheen to a matte lippie. But I have to say, my fave time to apply is just before bed — I think of it like a goodnight treat to myself!
