The Beauty Products We’re Loving This Month
FASHION‘s beauty team is made up of Beauty Director Lesa Hannah, Associate Beauty Editor Suzie Michael, and Beauty Writer Madelyn Chung. Each month, they’ll be discussing their favourite new products (whether they’re new-new or just new to them).
Bite Beauty The Lip Pencil in ‘100’
LH: I love that Bite finally launched lip liners earlier this year but…….there were a lot of nudes in the first collection and therefore not really a shade that was my Jam. (Literally. That’s the shade of Amuse Bouche lipstick I wear) However, there’s so much more variety among the 28 shades in the recently launched second batch. Including “100” ($20), an impeccable match to Jam, a creamy wonder I can’t stop applying with abandon. Also: they worked with a pencil manufacturer in Tennessee to customize a component; it just gives the product that kind of extra bit of cool backstory that I love.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter
MC: Come summertime, I’m all for that natural, dewy, bronzed, golden goddess-esque look. Unfortunately, I’ve never quite seemed to master it, with most liquid luminizers leaving me looking shiny or just too made-up for my liking. However, Marc Jacobs Beauty’s new Coconut Gel Highlighter ($55) gives me that perfect amount of glow for a truly radiant lit-from-within look that appears totally natural (plus, it smells delicious!). I like to apply it all over my face (after using the Coconut Primer) and then adding some extra product to the tops of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose for some extra bit of dewiness. Then, I finish things off with the O!Mega Bronze Coconut Perfect Tan bronzer and voila! Instant golden goddess status.
Nars x Charlotte Gainsbourg Lip Tint in ‘Double Decker’
SM: This is an easy one for me. In the tube, this lip tint in ‘Double Decker’ ($33) looks dark red, but it comes out so sheer and light that it just adds a reddish tint to your lips. One coat makes them look healthy and vibrant, but doesn’t really deposit much colour. Two coats makes them look just bitten, and three (which is how I apply it) makes them look wet—not glossy. It’s looks like you’ve just finished eating a cherry popsicle a second before, so it hasn’t had a chance to dry down into a stain. It’s perfect if you’re bored of matte and cream finishes, which I definitely am, but aren’t into the feeling of heavy glosses.
