The Best Makeup Hacks, According to Our Beauty Panel

As much as we love the idea of spending an hour carefully doing our makeup every morning, we don’t have the time for such indulgences. Not even close. Because we’re always on the go, we’re always trying to find some creative ways (and places) to use our beauty products. Thankfully, with so many multi-tasking products out there on the market, it’s easier than ever to do so. While there’s always the good ol’ lip tint moonlighting as blush, you may be surprised to know there are other beauty hacks to be learned. Luckily, we have our Beauty Panel to share some of their faves. Scroll down below to see some of the best makeup hacks you may not know about—yet.

I love to use eyeliner on my lips. Black liner is perfect to add to your favourite lip colour, especially during the fall season to achieve that deep oxblood colour. It’s an awesome way to test how dark you want to go with your lip colour and it’s very affordable. Just make sure you use a moisturizing balm under your lipstick first. The left photo shows me wearing the red lipstick, while the two on the right are show the results of mixing the black liner.

Products used: M.A.C Sheen Supreme in “New Temptation” and Avon Black Eyeliner.

One day while using one of my absolute favourite brow products (Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade), I sat and wondered how amazing it would work as a smoky eye base. For my shade, I used a gorgeous medium brown with an ashy undertone, which would lend a cooler feel for a smoky eye during the colder months. I decided to put it to the test. After using a regular cream shadow, such as M.A.C’s Paint Pot, I then layered the DipBrow Pomade overtop on the outer corners and into the crease, blending in to create the classic V shape. To help set it, I layered a bit of shadow on top. I was super impressed with the result! It created an amazing base that is very smudge proof so it will last from day to night. This might be the start of a new beauty habit of mine!

(Also shown here is one of my favourite lipsticks, worn not only on the lips, but also buffed into the apples of the cheeks for a pinch of colour.)

Products used: M.A.C Paint Pot in “Soft Ochre,” Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade in “Medium Brown,” Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario (Shadows: “Hollywood,” “Isabel,” “Violeta,” “Claudia”), M.A.C Lipstick in “Hang Up.”

I have a confession that I’m definitely not proud to admit. I’m a lazy person so whenever I can find a hack to make things faster and easier I’m all over it. This is especially true when it comes to makeup and here’s a perfect example. For this look, I’ve used Stila Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting Palette in three ways and three places.

There are three shades in this palette, so I used the Transcendence, an opalescent pink for my eyes as eyeshadow. For my lips, I used the middle shade Kitten, it’s Stila’s iconic shimmering nude pink, which helps brighten and illuminate. Finally, I applied the Bronze shade on the cheeks to create a radiant, sun-kissed glow. Seriously, one little Stila Cosmetics Palette did all that magic. How’s that for a fast and furious way to be creative with makeup?

Products used: Stila Cosmetics Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting Palette, Estée Lauder Double Stick Foundation, Korres Wild Rose Facial Oil, Korres Brightening Targeted Tone Corrector, Reversa Radiance Cream with SPF 30, Rimmel London Lipliner in “Eastend Snob,” Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day, Sparkle All Night Liquid Lipstick Set in “Baci,” Joe Fresh Volumizing Mascara, L’Oréal Canada Visible Lift Foundation in “Tan,” #QUOCosmetics Highlighter, Gosh from Shoppers Drugmart Eyeliner, Real Techniques Powder Brush, Estée Edit Flash Photo Powder.
