The Brightest and Boldest Beauty From Milan Fashion Week
Milan Fashion Week had some beauty moments that made us stop in our tracks: the seven ’20s-inspired bobs at Prada, the fact that Wreck-It Ralph‘s Vanellope von Schweetz served as beauty muse at Fendi and the various silver makeup tattoos at Giamba. But as far as trends go, the recurring thing we noticed was pops of colour, specifically in blue, red and orange.
Blue was the clear winner, with horizontal swipes at Pucci, which Tom Pecheux said were for an “urban warrior.” Pecheux dipped into it again at No. 21 for a glam rock-inspired eye, and Val Garland used chunky blocks of peacock blue both on lids and above the brows at Ports 1961. It was also used at Vivetta, Cristiano Burani, Sergei Grinko and Byblos.
It wouldn’t be a Dolce and Gabbana show if there wasn’t a red lip. Crimson mouths were also at Elisabetta Franchi, De Vincenzo and Trussardi. But makeup artist Lottie S used scarlet on the eyes at Cividini, applied in the similar warrior-like streaks Pecheux did at Pucci.
Aigner, Leitmotiv and Max Mara couldn’t decide between the two hues and used both, and when neither would do, orange was heroed at Alberto Zambelli, Blugirl, Fay and Salvatore Ferragamo.
