‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is Getting a Spinoff Book — and it’s all About Emily

We’re just gonna flat out say it: Emily Charlton was one of the best characters in Lauren Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada, other than Miranda Priestly, of course.

Sure, the assistant to Runway editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, was snobby, snarky and superficial, but she was wildly entertaining and, in the movie especially, provided us with some hilarious quips like, “I refuse to be sick, I’m wearing Valentino for crying out loud” and “You sold your soul to the devil when you put on your first pair of Jimmy Choos. I saw it.”

And while she was part of The Devil Wears Prada sequel novel, Revenge Wears Prada, the focus was still very much on Andrea “Andy” Sachs, which, you know, is fine, but TBH, we really wanted more Emily.

Well guys, now our prayers have finally been answered because Weisberger is releasing a spinoff novel based SOLELY on Emily called — wait for it — When Life Gives You Lululemons (LOL).

According to Entertainment Weekly, this new book will focus on 36-year-old Emily’s life post-Runway and Miranda Priestly in Greenwich, Conneticut, where she works as a “high-profile image consultant” for the rich and famous. Her client? A-lister Karolina Hartwell, a supermodel and wife of a senator, who has a DUI to overcome.

In a first excerpt obtained by EW, the story begins in Los Angeles (or as the novel says, God’s “least favourite city on earth”) at none other than Gigi Hadid’s house on New Year’s Eve where everyone who is anyone is in attendance. Emily gets called to do damage control for Rizzo — the “new Bieber” who showed up to a different party wearing a Nazi costume.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until June 5, 2018, to read the whole story, but here’s hoping this iconic one-liner from Emily in the film will make it into When Life Gives You Lululemons.
