The Hong Kong Bakery That Gives Even Magnolia Bakery a Run For Its Money
One of Central’s most famous local cafés is Lan Fong Yuen. It’s credited with having invented the famous “silk stocking” milk tea (condensed milk and sugar is added to black tea that has been poured through a cloth bag.) With three locations, you can find it all across Hong Kong, but be sure to check out the storefront on Gage Street. Not only is it the original location, but also it’s walking distance from Tai Cheong Bakery, which offers a famous egg tart (the perfect pairing to go with a creamy tea.) Often touted as the best egg tart in Hong Kong (where egg tarts are among the most popular snacks), Tai Cheong is the Magnolia Bakery equivalent in terms of its local fan base.
