The only Lana Del Rey makeup tutorial you’ll ever need (for Halloween and beyond)

Step 1

I used Tarte’s Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette (sephora.com) to create most of this look, as it has multiple neutral shades of matte shadow that can be used on the eyes and to contour and shade the face.

With the darkest shade from the kit, use an angled liner brush to carve Lana’s ’60s style cut crease along the contour of your lid, winging out slightly at the outer edge.

Step 2

Use a liquid liner, like LORAC’s Front Of The Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner (loraccosmetics.com), to line along the upper lash line and wing out for a defined look

Step 3

Follow up with the dark black shadow and angled liner brush on the outer lower lash line for a bold effect.

P.S. I’m wearing lash extensions, but lots of mascara or a pair of falsies add even more drama.

Step 4

Use a small pointed shadow brush to add a medium-toned grey-brown shadow (from the palette) down each side of the bridge of the nose, along the sides of the nostrils, and on the tip between the nostrils to create a slimmed, up-turned effect.

Step 5

Follow with a dusting of a soft cream-coloured shadow to blend the lines and soften any harsh contoured edges.

Step 6

Apply a pinky-nude glossy lipstick, like Hard Candy’s All Gloss Up Hydrating Lip Stain in Chic (walmart.com) all over the lips, extending the application area just outside of the natural lip line.

Step 7

Replicate Lana’s exaggerated pout by widening the natural lip line with a slighly deeper-shaded lipliner, like Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat in Hollywood Honey (charlottetilbury.com). Focus the liner on the upper and lower outer edges and cupid’s bow particularly.

Step 8

To get Lana’s big beauty queen ‘do, use a fine tooth comb to tease hair at the crown and sides. It’s going to look a bit crazy at first, but we’re building volume.

Step 9

After misting with a good dose of hairspray, gently comb hair back into pumped-up place, and mist with hairspray again to really lock in the style.

Step 10

The final key to Lana’s glam beauty look is long, rounded nails. If you don’t have the patience to grow yours out, try a set of easy-to-apply press-ons, like KissGel Fantasy Nails, available at most drugstores.
