The Sisters Behind French-Inspired Labels Sandro and Maje
To dress à la française is the sartorial #goal for any woman who considers Caroline de Maigret her muse. Two labels that innately reflect the effortlessly chic French style are Sandro and Maje. Last year, they both launched stand-alone shops at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, and this October they’re opening at McArthurGlen Vancouver.
These cult-favourite and complementary Parisian fashion labels are designed, respectively, by sisters Evelyne Chétrite and Judith Milgrom. Chétrite opened Sandro in 1984 with a collection of sophisticated staples, trousers, duster coats and high-neck tops (think polished insouciance and you’ve got it), while Maje, which followed in 1998, is more luxe Left Bank, with romantic bohemian pieces like floral-print dresses, billowy blouses and flared leather pants. Achieving French-girl fashion savoir faire has never been this easy. Your next challenge is mastering that envy-inducing undone hair.
