Mermaids probably aren’t real, but their inspiration for the beauty world doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. I mean, the mythical creatures have even inspired a beauty line, proving that everyone wants to be a glamorous siren of the sea. I took the classic image of a mermaid (ethereal beauty with flowing, windswept hair) and added my own creativity —some seashell-like hits of iridescence with ocean-blue shadow — to create an easy, last-minute Halloween look with products you’ve probably already got lying around.
Throw on a bikini top and a long, slinky skirt, and boom: you’ll be luring lost sailors to their demise in no time.

Step 1
Blend an ice blue cream shadow, like Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in “Blue My Mind” (sephora.com) in a C shape along the tops of the cheekbones and up the temples ending above the brow arch.

Step 3
Holding it flat against your skin, sponge on a darker blue shadow, like Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in “S214” (makeupforever.com) to create the mythical effect.

Step 5

Step 7
The last key to getting a mermaid’s look is tousled, sea-salt-soaked hair. Spritz and scrunch in göt2b’s Beach Trippin’ Salt-Infusion Waving Spray (well.ca) until you reach your desired effect, and before you know it your hair will be giving Ariel a run for her money.

Step 8
Eventually trade in your beautiful voice for human legs and meet a charming prince. Or whatever.
