2017 Beauty Launches
Rihanna’s makeup line
This not only tops my list of product launches I’m most eagerly awaiting, but also life events that I’m most looking forward to in 2017. If my bathroom walls could talk, they’d tell me to spend less time scrolling through photos of Rihanna when deciding what makeup look to do every day (I have yet to emerge looking like her, anyway). By using Rihanna-designed and approved products, half the battle’s already won. -S.M

2017 Beauty Launches
Frédéric Malle and Alber Elbaz’s fragrance collab
Since 2000, Frédéric Malle has famously worked with top perfumers for all the scents in his brand, Edition de Parfums Frédéric Malle. This year sees his second scent with a fashion designer, Alber Elbaz. Called Superstitious, a quality the two men share, there’s no word yet on how it smells. But considering 2013’s Dries Van Noten was gorgeous AF, we’re betting this one will be too.–L.H.

2017 Beauty Launches
Dr. Pimple Popper’s skincare line
It’s not every day that a dermatologist becomes an Instagram celeb, but that’s exactly what happened with Dr. Pimple Popper (aka Dr. Sandra Lee). With 2.2 million followers, her insane cyst and pimple-popping videos are not for the squeamish. (Like, not at all. You’ve been warned.) In 2016, she launched her Acne Spot Treatment (2% Salicyclic Acid, if you’re wondering) and Dr. Lee has promised more releases in the near future, which I cannot wait for. -S.M

2017 Beauty Launches
Drunk Elephant coming to Sephora Canada
I am always on the hunt for a physical sunscreen that I have yet to try. Last year, Drunk Elephant’s Umbra Sheer Physical Defense was getting touted everywhere from the Instagram feeds of New York beauty editors to GOOP. My intrigue in one product led me to wanting to know more about the brand, not only because it has such a memorable name but because it combines clean ingredients with safe synthetics. With their expansion this spring the only downside is that it’s coming here minus the sunscreen. (sad face)-L.H.

2017 Beauty Launches
…and Milk Makeup coming to Sephora Canada
I’ve been excited about Milk Makeup since the brand’s launch in February 2016, honestly, mostly because of the expertly hype-inducing Instagram account. Promising “smart, multi-functional, easy-to-use products designed for self expression,” Milk has managed to hold on to a lightheartedness and sense of fun surrounding beauty in a way that many brands have tried and failed to do (I won’t name any names). -S.M

2017 Beauty Launches
The Proenza Schouler fragrance
There’s been chatter for a few years about a PS scent. In early 2014, I asked Lazaro about it at a dinner hosted by MAC said they were still being wooed by companies. Well, L’Oreal put a ring on it, announcing in 2015 that they would be handling the task. Though designer fragrances are far from revolutionary, what excites me about theirs is that the duo uses technology to push the boundaries of the fabrics they use in their collections.

2017 Beauty Product Launches
Kérastase Smart Brush
Announced earlier this week, the Hair Coach will be available in Canada as of late 2017, and features a microphone that listens to the patterns of your brushing, identifying breakage, dryness, and more. It can also measure the pressure with which you’re brushing your hair, count your brush strokes, and more. Retailing for under $300, this is sure to end up on lots of Christmas lists later this year. -S.M
