The Weeknd is Partnering Up With Grey Goose

The Weeknd is really racking up the partnerships—first with Puma and H&M and now with Grey Goose vodka.

The collaboration is said to be a “first-of-its-kind partnership” for both the French premium vodka brand and the Canadian artist, who hails from Scarborough, Ont. It also marks the first time The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) has officially aligned himself with a spirits brand.

Grey Goose will serve as the official sponsor of Tesfaye’s “Legend of the Fall 2017” world tour, serving signature cocktails such as “Starboy” and “Sidewalk” (named after the 27-year-old crooner’s hit singles) featuring Grey Goose VX and a “hint of precious cognac.”

“Grey Goose has always been such an iconic brand to me,” The Weeknd said in a press release. “I’m excited to partner with them.”

“The Weeknd inspires others to celebrate life to the fullest by pushing boundaries and defying cultural expectations through music,” said Yann Marois, global vice-president and CMO for Grey Goose Vodka. “As partners, we look forward to reimagining the realm of possibility, just like we did when we introduced Grey Goose to the world: as the first super premium vodka, made entirely of single-origin French ingredients.”

Celebrities teaming up with alcohol brands are nothing new, however—Sean “Diddy” Combs has aligned himself with Ciroc vodka since 2007 and Roger Federer has been repping Moet & Chandon champagne since 2012. Plenty of celebs even have their own alcohol brands, most notably George Clooney’s Casamigos tequila and Justin Timberlake’s Sauza 901 tequila.

It’ll be interesting to see what’s next to come from The Weeknd and Grey Goose (a commercial, perhaps?), but in the meantime, you can see the recipes for the signature Abel cocktails below:

Starboy

  • 1 ½ ounces Grey Goose VX
  • 1 spritz of honey water (1 part honey to 1 part water)

Served on the rocks in a rocks glass. Garnish with a star anise (alluding to “Starboy”).

Sidewalk

  • 1 ½ ounces of Grey Goose VX
  • 3 ounces of premium Ginger Ale
  • ½ ounces freshly squeezed lime juice

Built over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a single star anise placed on top.
