These Are the Makeup Artists to Follow on Instagram in 2019
In our Winter issue, FASHION editors rounded up the 100 people, products and experiences we predict will blow up in 2019. It’s our inaugural Hot 100 Fuse List. From the workouts you’ll be doing, to the new designers and destinations you’ll see on your feed, this is your guide to being in the know next year. We feel that people are going to get tired of the Instagram aesthetic that is so ubiquitous and makeup artists like these will be far more inspiring to follow.
2: @beasweetbeauty
Bea Sweet is a great example of how the best work happens when an artist decides to take all the beauty rules and throw them out the window. The Brit’s Instagram is packed with so much fun, colour and imagination that it reads more like an art exhibit. It’s proof that getting it right sometimes means doing things that are considered conventionally wrong.
3: @namvo
Nam Vo’s layered approach to highlighting—dubbed the Dewy Dumpling Glow—mixes a variety of media to create the ultimate (steamy dumpling) sheen. A quick scroll through her Instagram is essentially a photographic love letter to gleaming skin.
4: @mimles
Mimi Choi takes makeup artistry to another level. Whether she’s turning her face into a fishbowl or intricately painting on three sets of eyes, it’s hard to believe she was previously a schoolteacher who did makeup as a side hobby.
5: @katiejanehughes
Katie Jane Hughes refuses to be defined by a signature look. Her Instagram is brimming with incredible options that range from stark and editorial to soft and romantic. Many of these looks are inspired by her equally amazing earring collection.
