They said/We said: Jenna Lyons’ business is all over the web
News and gossip can walk a fine line, especially in cases like wonder-woman Jenna Lyons’ recent love life. Nothing has been confirmed, but we are reading about it everywhere, and everyone wants to weigh in.
Lyons is splitting from her husband Vincent Mazeau and, allegedly, things are getting messy. As executive creative director of J.Crew, Lyons brings home a sizeable paycheque, while her estranged husband “gave up aggressively pursuing his career as an artist to stay at home and allow her to develop her successful career.” (It’s kind of nice hearing it this way around sometimes, isn’t it?) From what the gossip mill has told us, Mazeau wants the house and a sizeable settlement, and there’s been a serious custody battle going on over their son (the seriously cute, famously pink-toenailed) Beckett.
But wait, it gets much more salacious. It’s now reported that Lyons has already moved onto a new relationship, and is in love with another fashion industry insider: Courtney Crangi, business partner of jewellery designer Philip Crangi. While we kind of hate that Lyons’ rumoured lesbian status is newsworthy (don’t make us resort to a Chris Crocker–style “Leave Jenna alone!”), we’re glad that there’s a silver lining for her during this difficult time. Or maybe it’s just all made up, who knows.
THEY SAID…
J.Crew spokesperson: “We do not comment on our associates’ private lives.” [The Cut]
Page Six: “A source told us Vincent is seeking the house and a sizeable settlement in the divorce. […] But a friend of Lyons said she supported Vincent as an artist, bought him a studio and gave him a life where he didn’t have to work every day.” [Page Six]
Ministry of Gossip: “There’s a bit of irony, perhaps, in a female same-sex relationship in the fashion industry drawing headlines. After all, make same-sex relationships in the bis aren’t exactly head-turners.” [Los Angeles Time Blog]
Daily Mail, in a headline: “Millionaire J. Crew boss who painted five-year-old son’s toenails pink splits from husband—and moved on with lesbian lover” [Daily Mail]
WE SAID…
Rani Sheen, features editor: “Everyone’s girl crush Jenna Lyons has achieved celebrity status in the past year via a ton of media interviews and profiles (have you seen her house in Domino?!), which is probably why there’s such a frenzied interest in her love life—I wonder if she regrets courting the spotlight, now that it’s her family people are talking about.”
