TIFF 2014: Naomi Watts, Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray on the St. Vincent red carpet

Last night, Toronto was hit with a torrential downpour, but it goes to show whatever Mother Nature throws at us, nothing was going rain on this TIFF parade, figuratively speaking.
With yesterday being dubbed Bill Murray Day, it was no surprise to see enthusiastic fans (and we’re talking head-to-toe costumes complete with Murray face masks!) waiting outside of the Princess of Wales Theatre to catch a glimpse of a well-rested Bill Murray at the premiere of St. Vincent. While the heaviest part of the rain unfortunately happened when Murray’s car pulled up at the red carpet (Chris O’Dowd was all smiles and dry when he arrived earlier), it didn’t stop the guest of honour from taking the time to greet and sign autographs, albeit short, before being shuffled into the theatre to join his co-star Melissa McCarthy, who barely escaped the rain when she sprinted oh so elegantly in a black silk kimono wrap dress under the awning.
Sure, majority of the attention was on Murray, but we busy doing a double take on a va va voom Naomi Watts. Known for her demure red carpet choices, the British actress showed us she can work a sultrier side (but tasteful) from time to time. Dressed in a black jumpsuit by Stella McCartney with cutout details here and there, she topped off her look with standout jewels by Bulgari, metallic Rupert Sanderson platform heels and a Lee Savage box clutch. We’re not going to lie, but we’re hoping to see her whip out this side more in the near future.
