TIFF party pics: Pierre Bergé and YSL muses Loulou de la Falaise and Betty Catroux at the premiere of L’amour fou
It is a rare occasion indeed for Torontonians to rub shoulders with a fashion titan like Yves Saint Laurent‘s longtime partner, and co-ounder of YSL Rive Gauche, Pierre Bergé. But rub shoulders they did–an elite group, anyway–at the after party for the world premiere of Pierre Thoretton‘s documentary, L’amour fou. The film, which traces Saint Laurent’s career through the lens of his relationship with Bergé, and the ultimate auctioning off of their collection of art, furniture and objets, features extensive conversations with Bergé, as well as talks with the designer’s muses Loulou de la Falaise and Betty Catroux, who were staples on the Paris fashion scene.
All four attended the premiere at the Isabel Bader Theatre, which was followed up by a FASHION-sponsored cocktail at Hôtel Le Germain on Saturday night. Also populating the hotel’s Victor resto: directors Norman Jewison and Denys Arcand, fashion powerhouse couple Joe and Kimberley Mimran, who were kind enough to allow our cameras to interrupt their nuzzling long enough to get their thoughts on fashion and art, Holt Renfrew president Mark Derbyshire with wife, Julie, as well as Holts’ communications director Moira Wright, jewellery designer Shay Lowe, Bustle pair Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow, new parents Ben and Jessica Mulroney, and actress Tara Spencer-Nairn, who was still there when we made a repeat visit to the party after hopping over to the Thompson for the Vanity Fair fete. The late-late party crowd was surely pleased to find that YSL Beauté had tucked a golden tube of their legendary concealer Touche Éclat into the gift bag alongside a bottle of Belle d’Opium (La Nuit d’Homme for the gents).
