TOM* Fall 2016 beauty: The biggest trends in men’s grooming (so much contouring!)
Thought contouring was only for women? We went backstage at TOM 2016 and learned that that could not be farther from the truth. Which makes sense, because who needs a chiseled, defined jawline more than male models? And to make our first time backstage at TOM even more exciting, it also happened to be M.A.C’s first time doing the shows.
At Just Ta Designs, by Alan Ta, M.A.C Cosmetics Senior Artist Jane McKay created a tribal-inspired look with white paint, and at House of Dalla, “warrior eyes” were on display, which were created in five minutes, using Blacktrack Fluidline, layered with a metal pigment and a gloss texture” over top, finished off with a touch of black mascara for a dirty, sooty look. Oh, did we mention that our forever #MCM Don Benjamin was there? Otherwise, contouring and highlighting were front at centre, echoing the womenswear beauty trends for the past 900 seasons.
At L’Momo, McKay explained that designer Muhammad Alamgir asked for “the men to have almost an alien-like appearance to their skin, to look slightly silver-y.” To do this, McKay reached for M.A.C Strobe Cream and Mineralize Skinfinish.
So what’d we learn backstage at TOM 2016? Perfect, glowy skin is a universal language. Browse the gallery below to see the best beauty moments at Toronto Men’s Fashion Week 2016.
