Tom Hardy Just Became a Legit Real-Life Hero
If you ever doubted whether the world’s most-famous action-film stars could actually save the day IRL, then Tom Hardy just proved you wrong!
On Sunday April 24, two teenagers in Richmond, South West London stole a moped, ran a red light and crashed into a Mercedes at an intersection, and prepared to make a run for it. Enter: The Mad Max actor, who so happened to be strolling through the ‘hood and witnessed the whole scene. Being a good samaritan, Hardy chased after one of the teens and made a citizen’s arrest. Leave it to the lovely (and dreamy!) Tom to save the day.
According to The Sun, an eyewitness named Arun Pullen said that the actor looked furious. He probably channelled his inner Bane (IMO) before pursuing the delinquents.
“It was mental—like he’d switched to superhero mode in an action movie,” says Pullen. “Two boys on the nicked moped had jumped a red light and smashed into a car.”
“I asked Tom what happened and he told me he chased him through my back garden and caught him around the block—but the route was like an assault course.” And the witness was definitely not exaggerating. The Sun put together a video recreating the route Hardy took. The 39-year-old actor clearly has put his stunt training to good use.
After catching the thief, shocked onlookers recounted Hardy saying “This little s*** nicked something and now he’s got himself a broken leg.” Apparently, he then hauled the teen to a nearby bus stop and gave him a good pat down before handing him over to the police. What a hero.
While the actor has not commented on the heroic act (so humble), we hear the two young thieves were arrested on suspicion of theft and taking a vehicle without consent.
James Bond in the making? We think so.
