Tommy Hilfiger and Indya Moore co-design a gender-fluid capsule collection
Tommy Hilfiger has announced the launch of its Summer Pre-Fall 2021 Tommy x Indya capsule collection. Co-designed by non-binary actor and activist Indya Moore, the collection emphasizes that great style knows no boundaries with its wide size range and genderless designs. “This capsule goes beyond great style,” said Moore in a press release. “It breaks a cycle and sets a new standard across the industry. Too many people are made to feel that something is wrong with them just for being themselves. It means everything to me to know that with our capsule, no one is made to feel wrong or different or broken. Everyone works perfectly for this collection, no matter who they are.”
This collection aligns within Tommy Hilfiger’s People’s Place Program, and its goals of advancing representation in fashion and creating opportunity for creatives from underrepresented BIPOC communities. As part of this collaboration donations were made to three causes that resonate with both Moore and Hilfiger’s values: Rainbow Railroad, Reuniting of African Descendants (ROAD) and Global Coralition. Starting July 20, the Tommy x Indya collection will be available globally on tommy.com.
Reebok and Victoria Beckham drop their fifth collaboration
Everyone’s favourite haute athleticwear duo is back with another collab. Reebok and Victoria Beckham have designed a fifth capsule that can effortlessly be worn from the gym to the street, with minimal silhouettes and structured pieces that reimagine past collection icons. Beckham’s personal favourite? The Tennis Dress, which has built-in shorts, subtle cutouts and a bonded finish for a flattering look. Reebok x Victoria Beckham Drop Five will be available for purchase on August 9, exclusively on Reebok.ca.
JW Anderson releases Persol sunglasses for Spring 2022
The latest union of two design dynamos comes in the form of a spirited collaboration between JW Anderson and Italian luxury eyewear brand Persol. Eight new pairs of sunglasses offer a creative punch of colour and unique pizzaz, thanks to JW Anderson’s outside-the-box thinking and quirky approach to style, and the rich visual history of Persol.
The notable collection is brought to life with the graphic classicism of stylist Benjamin Bruno, sculptural hair creations by Jamaican-American hairstylist Jawara and photography by Tyler Mitchell. “I really wanted to work with Tyler. He is such an incredible artist and photographer. I wanted images that became kind of poetic miniatures, almost like windows,” said Anderson. “I love what Jawara does as well. His hairstyles are amazing and helped creature this incredible portraiture that you somehow can’t place in time.”
Holt Renfrew announces a limited-edition collection from Sacai and KAWS
On July 16, Holt Renfrew rolled out a colour lover’s dream with a limited-edition ready-to-wear capsule from Sacai and KAWS. The collaboration, birthed from a friendship and long-time mutual admiration between Sacai founder and designer Chitose Abe and contemporary artist KAWS, is pegged in the concept of “wearable art.” The original artwork and colour palette of KAWS art will be imbued into existing Sacai pieces in men’s, women’s and unisex attire.
