TREND: RUFFLES
A girly staple goes for grown-up glam. From Pink Tartan’s Spanish-inspired flounces to Malorie Ubanovitch’s subtle waves to Mikael D’s sculptural tiers, it seems movement is the new must-have for spring.

TREND: 70s
A continuation from fall, the 70s groove train chugs on this spring. The best throwbacks included Beaufille’s suede vest and matching cropped trousers, Hilary MacMillan’s patterned shirt dresses, Pink Tartan’s retro-colour palette and ponchos, and Laura Siegel’s flowy print caftans. Even Rudsak’s edgy moto jackets got a dose of nostalgia thanks to the heavy curtain of fringe on the back.

TREND: BRIGHTS
Pretty pastels add a powder-perfect finish but electric hues will keep you revved from sun up to sun down. Some of spring’s most colourful characters included Hayley Elsaesser’s high-watt carnival-inspired prints (think magenta poodles and crystal balls), Ashtiani’s floor-length hot pink topper, and Mackage’s splashy turquoise.

Stash those tried-and-true floral prints-this season’s garden variety of 3D florals will wake up your spring wardrobe, no watering necessary. From Mikhael Kale’s petal-heavy skirts and toppers to Narces’s pretty buds to Lucian Matis’s wallpaper-inspired textured fabrics, innovative floral embellishment was in full bloom on the runways.

TREND: MINIMALISM
Sometimes less really is more. Spring’s royal court of pared-down dressing includes Sid Neigum (absence of colour and origami-like designs), Unttld (sleek noir silhouettes that highlight clean, sharp lines) and Ashtiani (sheer anoraks that play on the athleisure trend).

When it comes to jewellery this spring, designers are giving love to lobes. Malorie Ubanovitch included 3D printing on oversized earrings, Mackage declared single is (still) sexy with colourful fringe shoulder dusters worn as singles, and Pink Tartan’s crochet-inspired XL hoops brought the 70s full circle.
