Fashion Week kicked off with a mob of well-heeled, shivering group of eds, buyers and a number of unknown revellers intent on playing dress-up for the upcoming week of fashion festivities.

The show: Greta Constantine
The venue: The Courthouse

Greta gripe sesch: Why oh why did we have to wait outside for 20 minutes? And then wait inside for another 40 for the show to begin?  While we did enjoy a glass of bubbly, don’t those darling Greta boys know it is now considered apropos to start a show on time.  If you don’t believe us, ask Marc Jacobs.

While we did get a sneak peek at their F/W collection during NY Fashion Week, Friday night’s chic circus included a more comprehensive line-up of looks.

Hot hits: “Leave-those-carbs-alone” skinny leather pants in black and liquid silver, neoprene cutaway cocoon coats, wide wraparound corset belts, strong, angular ’80s-inspired shoulders, a lamé leopard print one-piece with I-Dream-of-Jeannie pants and sexy pencil skirts with thigh-high slit details.

Colour to covet for fall: rust

Overall theme: innovation

Their F/W runway recipe: angular accents, seatbelts (!) fashioned into shoulder embellishment, laminated metallic knits, volume, neoprene and feminine fluidity.

Arm charms: tribal-inspired slick black plumes

The show ended off with a few signature drapey goddess gowns, some with asymmetrical necklines, some cinched at the waist.  All delivered on the glam front.  As they say, if it ain’t broke, keep selling ’em.

Until my next jottings…xo
