Toronto: Joeffer Caoc, Linda Lundström Fall 2009
Back to the tents for more fun and games. Popped into the media lounge to check out the Twitteratti who are quickly turning blogs into the carrier pigeons of the fashion world. But are these Tasmanian devil-style updates a fleeting obsession? Only the tweets will tell.
Joeffer Caoc drew a packed house – quelle surprise! Caoc is one of the hot tickets this week – including Pink Tartan and Joe Fresh. More on those tomorrow.
Caoc’s Fall 2009 greatest hits: the silver silk metallic dress, the faux-hair car coat, the bronze one-shoulder dress, the perfect straight leg pant, the boiled wool boyfriend jacket
It’s all in the details: puff sleeves, funnel necks, sheer backs (sexy with a capital S), tulle and organza insets and tucks and pleats
The item to update your closet: the red silk jersey dress. It’s time to make red part of your power palette
The best new eveningwear alternative: the black two-tone jumpsuit
Best bon mots: Caoc’s line sheets included a sweet thank you “to all the inspiring women” in his life.
Back to the media lounge for a quick break before the Lundström show. Note: the post-bailout plan for LG Fashion Week does not include food this year. There is nothing less appealing than a hungry journalist.
Overheard at the tents: “I am going to need a drink, a real one, to get through this.”
The Lundström show starts on time. Heaven on earth.
Linda Lundström, known for her cool Canadian coats, is back on the scene after a brand overhaul and tonight marks her first runway show. Needless to say, the fashion set is anxious to see what Lundström pulls out of her parka pockets this time around. Oh and did we mention that the collection is produced, designed and manufactured right here in Toronto? That in itself deserves two maple leafs up in our books.
Lundström’s big O: Outerwear. Specifically, the redesigned Laparka coat. Riding on its–ahem–coattails are her open envelope coats, cinched party robes and cocoon coats.
New hues: Royal purple, navy ink, charcoal grey and oatmeal
Showstopping pieces: plaid lumber jackets, slouchy trousers, cropped wool bombers with fur-lined hoods and cuffs, fluid velvet dresses with asymmetrical hemlines, multi-art print dresses and the convertible kite pants
The shout-out award goes to: George Antonopoulos (FASHION‘s main squeeze) who brilliantly styled the show. From the Lilliput hats to the La Crasia gloves to the Rita D jewellery to the Josephson sunnies…
FASHION’s fave look: winter white fur-lined Parka paired with a white skinny-minnie pant. Gorge.
Keep it PC for PETA: Despite all the furry cuffs, hoods and headpieces (yes, it seems as though LL is bringing back ‘80s après ski), the show’s line sheets mentioned that all fur trim and accessories are available in faux fur options as well as the real deal. Fellow Canuck Pam Anderson would be proud.
Until my next jottings, xo.
