Toronto’s MISFITSTUDIO is Opening a Second Permanent Location
After making the initial debut with MISFITSTUDIO back in 2010, creator and owner Amber Joliat has been making power moves ever since. With the first fitness studio (located at 88 Ossington Avenue in Toronto) proving to locals that working out can leave you feeling more connected to mind, body and soul, it should come as no surprise that the empire is expanding. The second location is slated to open at 979 Bloor Street West, in the diverse neighbourhood of Bloorcourt, in September.
“Having two studios in different neighbourhoods is an adventure for us. Our studio at 88 Ossington has matured over the past three years and is always buzzing,” says Andrea Hellenbart, General Manager of MISFITSTUDIO. “Opening on Bloorcourt means new clientele and being part of a diverse neighbourhood that is changing, but still very supportive of small businesses. We’re honoured to be there and can’t wait to open our doors.”
Earlier this year the brand announced that they would be sharing their dance-inspired workout techniques with the rest of Canada through a series of pop-up studios in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Joliat says the pop-ups are a great way to help newcomers experience “the MISFITMETHOD.”
The new 2,500 sq. ft studio space will offer reformer, trampoline, cardio and floor-based workouts, as well as dedicated rooms for private sessions. They’re also planning to create a pre/post-workout lounge space optimal for BFF hangouts.
“This year has been a real journey of evolution for all of us at MISFITSTUDIO,” says Joliat. “We are grateful for our community (who I think of as family) for choosing to stick with us through shifts and rotating pop-ups. We are constantly transforming and moving deeper into a place of trust that everything happens for a reason. Opening in a Toronto neighbourhood that is on the precipice of change feels exciting. We can’t wait to welcome new MISFITS into our home.”
