Toronto shop notes: 5 minutes with Fidelity’s Jason Trotzuk
Anyone who has taken a dip into Fidelity Denim’s jean pool knows that the label’s founder, designer and president, Jason Trotzuk, is a master of erasing figure flaws. Designed in Vancouver (and sewn in Los Angeles), this Canadian blues brand continues to rack up style points and celebrity clients (Rihanna, Jennifer Aniston) season after season.
What is Fidelity Denim known for?
“The three F’s: fabric, fit and finish. Only the finest premium Italian and Japanese denim is used. We use fit models with various body types and each pair of jeans has custom-made quality.”
What’s new for Fall 2011?
“Two new standout fabrics: Ginza denim and corduroy. The Ace is a new style. It is a mid-rise ultra-slim leg made in Ginza, premium flex-stretch fabric from Japan. Our corduroys come in a selection of four beautiful, dusty colours: phantom, birk, krimzen and black.”
What are the key denim styles women need in their wardrobes?
“A great skinny jean is the modern everyday staple. It’s also important to have a go-to boot-cut that can be dressed up with heels or down with flats. Lastly, a fashion piece such as a ’70s-inspired wide leg is a great addition.”
Why do jeans continue to be such a universal staple?
“Denim is a fundamental fabric. The variance in washes and styles provides such a large spectrum of [options] that, ultimately, everyone can find something to relate to.”
