Whatever your plans are for Valentine’s Day, a romantic makeup look should definitely be on the schedule. For a day that’s equal parts whimsical fun and sexy fantasy, there are so many ways to express yourself. Sure, a bright shade of red lipstick or a smouldering smoky eye is an excellent way to stand out on Valentine’s Day, but why not be a little bit more adventurous? We’ve dreamed up two Valentine’s Day makeup looks that would be perfect for your hot date, girls’ night out, or anything else you’ve got planned on February 14th.
Since Valentine’s Day is all about about getting steamy during the coldest part of the year, we thought it would be fun to play with a temperature theme and create two looks that are inspired by warmth and cold. Our “Hot” look uses gorgeous warm tones of bronze, orange and peach, while the “Cool” look plays with icy shades of grey and pastel blue-pink. The best part? Both looks are neutral enough that they will look beautiful on any skin tone. Read on to see how easy it is to recreate both of these Valentine’s Day makeup looks with our step-by-step tutorials.

LIPS
Finish the look by applying a bold orange lipstick with a creamy finish. You’l want to use a lip brush to make sure you get a crisp line around the edges. Once you’re happy with the application, press your lips together a few times to soften the look.

EYESHADOW
Using a medium-sized fluffy eyeshadow brush, apply a medium grey shade across the crease of your eyes. Don’t just concentrate your application at the outer corner; move the colour all the way to the inner corner of your eyes, towards the bridge of your nose. Blend the colour by using small, circular motions to get a diffused look.

CONTOUR
Using a smaller eyeshadow brush, apply a darker shade of grey to the outer corners of the eyes, on the lid and in the crease. Blend inwards onto the lighter grey using a fluffy brush.

LASHES
Add a bit more drama by curling your lashes and applying several coats of a volumizing black mascara.

BLUSH
After cleaning up any eyeshadow that may have fallen, touch up your skin using your favourite foundation and then sweep a highlighting powder in a pale peach colour onto your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and your cupid’s bow.
