Vancouver shop notes: Splash stars
Short and sweet—that’s summer in Vancouver. But there’s no shortage of darling swimwear designed here to maximize our brief beach season. Make waves in one of these local suits that touch on summer’s hottest trends.
Girlie
Ruffled white crochet isn’t so innocent in the hands of Anna Kosturova (annakosturova.com). The designer’s Angel Frillkini ($165) is equipped with underwire and padding for a little push on top and a girlie double flounce on the bottom. These flirty suits have been featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue every year since 2007.
Sport
The man behind Cuchè (cuchebikinis.com), Eden Rausch, calls this his best collection yet, and rightfully so. The Frédérique maillot ($210) may appear conservative, being a navy one-piece, but the deep plunging neckline, mesh panels and gold shooting stars are Bond girl-meets-superhero. At Dream Apparel & Articles For People (311 W. Cordova St., 604-683-7326, dreamvancouver.com).
Colour Block
Designer Lexi Soukoreff’s Shibori-style tie-dye technique is the linchpin of her Daub + Design line (daubanddesign.com). The new Lenora bikini (top $85, bottom $65) contrasts vibrant coloured tie-dye with blocks of graphic black. It’s Claude Monet’s Impression, Sunrise meets Kazimir Malevich’s Black Square. At Forsya Boutique & Gallery (2206 Main St., 604-568-8667, forsyaboutique.com).
