What’s the Secret to David Drebin’s Voyeuristic and Emotional Appeal?
Today we’re launching our “FASHION in Conversation” series and our first guest is multi-media artist, David Drebin. The Toronto-born, NYC-based photographer is known for his evocative, cinematic and moody images as well as his sculptures, neons and glass etchings. He switched from commercial photographer to creating pieces of art shortly after Elton John purchased half of a show he had at a gallery in LA. Drebin says that Elton’s support gave him the “external validation that he needed to match the internal validation that he already had.” Drebin added that he’s persevered over the years even when everyone told him he wouldn’t make it as an artist. Today, he’s hoping his “unplanned profession” is an inspiration to others who have a dream.
