With everything that has been going on over the past year, it’s no secret we could all use a rejuvenating escape. Luckily, the most awesome points of interest are sometimes close to home. First up, a jaunt to Lake Louise, Alta. courtesy of vocational rehabilitation specialist, Chinenye Otakpor.
Favourite things about this spot
“I love Lake Louise for the stunning views and fresh air. Especially with travel restrictions, it’s a perfect getaway when things feel too heavy. The drive itself is peaceful and breathtaking. Every time I visit, I’m in awe — like I’m seeing the lake for the first time.”
What to pack
“Water — I consider it an essential health and beauty item. Also, a roomy tote bag and blotting powder for touch-ups. There are so many places to take amazing pictures, so you want to make sure you look your best! And I recommend bringing a chic scarf to protect your hair and ears in case there’s wind. As the weather warms up, I’ll be switching from chunky knit scarves to satin ones.”
Best place for coffee
“Try the Snowy Americano at Trailhead Café. It has a great menu, and it serves breakfast all day.”
Notable places to nosh
“In the warmer months, you can picnic right by the lake. That’s on the to-do list for my boyfriend and me this summer. As for dining and takeout, Mount Fairview Dining Room is amazing.”
Favourite local shop
“The Viewpoint has a wonderful selection of book titles.”
Best place for souvenirs
“Pipestone Quarry. It sells rocks, semi-precious gemstones, minerals, fossils and other collectibles.”
How to get there
The Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo’s Performance Battery Plus means more distance.
