Winnipeg: One more perfect white tee
It doesn’t matter how many white T-shirts I own, I am always, and I emphasize always, looking for the perfect one. I have at least four on my shelves, all of which I have shared a brief romance with before moving on. When I finally think I’ve found one, I am reminded time and time again that nothing is ever perfect …until one day, I found it: the one, the only, perfect white tee.
It was a warm afternoon, the sun was high in the sky and I was walking around downtown. I was shopping, but with no real intention or determination and then it happened. While casually walking through Hoopers (70 Albert St., 204-943-5240), a shop that specializes in retro fashions and décor from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, my attention was drawn to a whole mess of T-shirts hanging on the wall. I grabbed the one in white and headed straight for the change room. I had finally met my match.
My latest love is Alternative Apparel’s (alternativeapparel.com) Burnout Tee (shown, $35). What makes it so unique is the sexy, almost see-through fabric. Each tee is put through a weathering process that ensures no two are the same and gives it the feel of a broken-in favourite. It’s soft, it’s sexy, and fits just right…for now.
