Winnipeg: Saved by the wool

How people can give some things away is a mystery to me. Especially those one-of-a-kind, classic pieces that can forever be a part of your wardrobe. This thought came to me when I uncovered a vintage Cowichan sweater from the racks of Value Village (1560 Regent Ave. W., 204-661-9045, valuevillage.com) a few short days ago.

A lot of my excitement about an old, thick-knit wool sweater comes from the fact that winter has really started to piss me off.  It’s gotten to the point where I hate everything in my closet because it’s just not warm enough! I find myself getting out of bed looking to crawl into the next toasty thing, completely disregarding the fact that I may look like a total mess. (Yes, I’m wearing three layers that don’t match or go with these boots, but damn it, I’m warm!)

My skin is dry, static has claimed my once luscious locks and my style has suffered greatly.  Okay, maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but my positivity has run out. However, since I’ve found this stylish, heavy, warm, gift-from-God sweater, things have gotten a little better. The challenge now, is trying not to wear it every single day.
