Your First Look at Season 2 of Marvel’s Jessica Jones (Exclusive)
Marvel’s Jessica Jones is (almost) back, and Netflix has given FASHION an exclusive first look at season 2 of the hit superhero show:
Season one of the dark, mysterious superhero series saw Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases in New York City. It applauded by critics as a suspenseful, edgy look into her life, as she faces demons from within and without. What’s next for Jessica? Here’s everything we know about Marvel’s Jessica Jones season 2.
The Plot
New York City private investigator Jessica Jones is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.
The Release Date
Okay so we don’t know this yet…originally, it was speculated that season 2 would premiere sometime in 2016, one year after season one was released. Obviously, that didn’t happen. What we do know is that filming of the series wrapped up in September, which means Marvel’s Jessica Jones should definitely be on track for a 2018 debut.
The Showrunner
Netflix will keep Melissa Rosenberg in charge for its second season. Pre Jessica Jones, Rosenberg’s credits include Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Birds of Prey, The O.C. and Dexter. Oh, and she wrote all five Twilight movies.
The Director
All four directors of season two will be women. And that’s thanks to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, who said that in the second season of the superhero show, she had wanted to increase the number of female directors—a goal that she said Marvel was completely on board with.
