FASHION Magazine

  • Foxy fashion

    By Kristen Hammond

While Montreal editor Shirine Saad was swamped with all things nuptial-related for MARIAGE Québec, I was sent to check out the furry fashions at this year’s Naffem (naffem.com) opening gala.

  • Episode 27: No Place Like Home

Heidi walks into Brent Bolthouse’s office and gets down to business. “I know that you guys have been expanding everywhere… I wanna be a part of this company as much as I can, so I would love to get my hands in there and make myself as available to you as much as I can,” she says, “especially if that means travelling or relocating.” Who wouldn’t want to give more responsibility to such an eloquent person, who’s not at all using her job as a way to escape her problems?

  • Episode 26: A date with the past

Lauren, Lo and Audrina tour their new house, which is, as they exclaim five times, "so pretty!" Audrina will apparently be living in the guesthouse instead of in the main house with the others. "Are you going to be O.K. staying back here?" Lauren asks.

  • And we’re off…

I stepped in as the online editor for FASHIONMagazine.com at the end of March and I thought it was about time I said hello. I’m really thrilled to be jumping into the website right now; there are so many exciting things happening, like our partnership with MySpace and the big one, our Reporter Search. I’m especially thrilled about this contest, since it lets our team peer into those corners of the country we don’t normally see.

  • B.C. Fashion Week

    By Kate MacLennan

I’m not so silly as to go comparing B.C. Fashion Week to the spectacles that our editors witness in Bryant Park, the Carrousel du Louvre, or any of Milan’s equally stylish venues, but I will enthuse this: we have a fashion week here in Vancouver, and the alluring mix of up-and-comers and established designers set to hit the catwalk next week is well worth checking out. Here’s some highlights:

  • Toronto Fashion Week: Day four

    Until next time!

Shown: Robin Kay, FDCC President, and Executive Director of L’Oréal Fashion Week

As Fashion Week Fall 2008 came to an end, there was still some celebrating to be done. Thursday night’s festivities were in full swing by the time we ventured out. A brief stop at Ultra Supper Club for Paul Hardy and Travel Alberta’s pre-show cocktail (and some yummy baby kobe burgers) and we were off to the tents.

  • Love Bites

    By Kate MacLennan

Don’t tell my boyfriend, but I’ve gone and fallen in love. No, not with another man—heavens, who has time between fashion shows and snowboarding for such folly as that?

  • New York: Day five

    By Tammy Eckenswiller

The buzz among the beautiful people today included Carla Bruni and French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s marriage, and Fabien Baron returning to Interview magazine as co-editorial director with Glenn O’Brien. Some people think it’s strange to have co-directors, but hey, if Mert and Marcus [fashion photography team] can do it, so can they! New crush: Canadian-N.Y.C. transplant and uber-stylist, Alex Slavycz, so pretty and follows a hard-core no-fur vegan mandate!

  • An affair to remember

    LOVE & SEX GUIDE (2008)

Glowing skin, twinkling eyes and a voice that purrs–there is nothing as addictive as the rush of a new crush. After all, whether you are a sparkler-wearing Mrs. or a single seeking kisses, every lovely needs a little something sensuous (man or latest must-have) to make her heart go all a flutter. But the question du jour remains: Should a modern-day minx wear her heart on her stylish sleeves?

  • 24 Hour Party People

    By Kate MacLennan

Fashion parties always trickle to a minimum under the August sunshine, but by the first week of September, the bulk of the style community has happily bid sayonara to its summer threads and is eagerly embarking on the important mission of building a new autumn wardrobe. So if there’s one event you don’t want to miss, it’s fall’s first fashion fête, bound to be a gawk-fest of au courant clothing, not to mention a choice opportunity to network and dish.
