From the West Coast to the Atlantic Ocean, Beauty Director Adriana Ermter scours the nation for must-try rejuvenating, relaxing and beautifying spas.

I’ve got too much on the go and I’m feeling the stress. A more informal spa experience is what I’m after. As I make my way to the change rooms, pick a locker and slip on a robe, I am grateful to not have someone hovering over me—it would only add to the pressure. And right now, sitting in a pre-reclined chair in the spa’s informal environment, while sipping a glass of lemonade and listening to the twangy sounds of an Asian-inspired CD are all I need. At least that’s what I think until I’m face down on a table in Nadine’s treatment room for an hour long Chocolate Bliss Mud Wrap ($140).

  • Video: Salvador Dalí est fou for Lanvin chocolate

sept09viddaliNot just a surrealist painter, Salvador Dalí was also a prolific pitchman. He fronted for Alka-Seltzer, Braniff and in 1968, even Lanvin. Actually Lanvin chocolate. (The house went through a bit of a rough period.) A chocolate apparently so delicious, your handlebar mustache will vibrate. [Jezebel]

  • Saskatoon spa break!

Don’t let this holiday season stress you out. Stop in at Spa Ahava (720 Broadway Avenue, 306-978-8111, spaahava.com), a little oasis snuggled between the unique shops in the heart of Broadway.

  • Saskatoon: Secret garden

There is nothing better than dressing up for a good cause, and on Friday night, Saskatoon put on its finest for Choc à la Cure (choclacure.com), a gala evening put on by Dutch Growers in support of the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. The live and silent auctions, which included travel, art and spa packages, were accompanied by live jazz, delectable hors d’oeuvres and of course, mouth-watering chocolate desserts by the city’s finest chefs

  • Toronto: Chocolate stop

    Odd Gems by Connie Ng

Attention chocoholics: MoRoCo Chocolat (99 Yorkville Ave., 416-961-2202, morocochocolat.com), possibly the most fashionable chocolate salon in Toronto, opened this fall. The location is quite hidden, but even if you miss their giant Victorian logo that reads “Let Them Eat Cacao,” your nose will lead the way like a GPS.

  • Labour Day pains

There is something so easy and effortless about summer dressing. Throw on a cute floral dress, stack a few bangles, slip into a fabulous sandal and out the door you go.

  • Dog days of summer

It’s the end of this fashionable girls favourite season and the second bottle of Skyy Vodka this year has just landed on my desk. (TIFF is less than a week away and sponsor Skyy has come up with some tasty cocktails to commemorate the annual film fest, hence the new addition to my at-home bar. Atom’s Amarula Colada, (Click for recipes) after Canadian star director Atom Egoyan, looks delish.) One shouldn’t really look a gift horse in the mouth, but on a morning such as this, I can’t bear to look at it—just yet.

  • I (heart) New York

All of us fashionable ladies in the office can hardly contain ourselves when talk turns to Sex and the City: The Movie. (We’ve already bought our matinee tickets for May 30th!) So when I was asked to come by Davids on Bloor Street for an intimate little cocktail party to show off their Sex-themed windows, I could not pass it up. For the first time ever, Davids decided to unveil a window theme for their flagship store, with well-thought-out selections showing off the style of the four major females in the film (as well as the four leading men). Sponsored by Skyy Vodka, the low-key affair also showcased five yummy cocktails based on each of the women and one for Mr. Big, natch. The Samantha was naturally tarty, the Carrie was more refined, and so on.

  • Love Bites

    By Kate MacLennan

Don’t tell my boyfriend, but I’ve gone and fallen in love. No, not with another man—heavens, who has time between fashion shows and snowboarding for such folly as that?
